About the event
Everyone is welcome to join us for a hands-on experience to create challah. Challah is a braided bread, which is made with eggs. It is often eaten on the Jewish Sabbath and holidays. You will create the bread from scratch while connecting with old and new friends and building community. Challah Bake Co-Chairs Debbie Garelick and Eti Young will lead us in preparing and braiding challah dough to bake at home just in time for Shabbat. Shabbat, is a weekly 25-hour observance, from just before sundown each Friday through the completion of nightfall on Saturday, Shabbat is more than just a day off from labor. It is a day of physical and spiritual delights that is meant to illuminate certain key concepts in the traditional Jewish perception of the world.
All (ages 12 and up) are welcome, regardless of religion, gender, or identity. You do not need to identify as Jewish to participate in this or any program at the Boulder JCC.
This program is gluten-free friendly, as we are offering a gluten-free dough option. However, there will be gluten in the room. If you wish to use the gluten-free dough, please select this option when you register.
We are once again partnering with Moe's Broadway Bagels to donate loaves of challah to people in our community experiencing food insecurity. When you complete your registration you will have the option to add on a challah to donate.
Please register each person in your household separately.
